Linux 64-bit Applications

To run a program, (for example, Associative), using a terminal:

  1) open a terminal

  2) change the working directory to the folder where the Associative.tar.gz is located

    cd folder_name

  3) extract the executable file in the current folder

    tar xvfz Associative.tar.gz

  4) run the program with

    ./Associative

Some Linux desktops (like KDE) will also allow you to quickly open a
terminal in a specific directory. Then steps 1 and 2 can be omitted.

You can also extract the tar.gz file with your standard archiver from your
Linux desktop and skip step 3, so that only step 4 is required with a terminal.
